Gilles Simon wins Medibank Open in Sydney

After winning the first set by attacking the weak second serve of Victor Troicki, Gilles Simon had a lapse of concentration. The French player lost his serve twice to let the Serbian open up a 3-0 lead. Never-the-less Simon again attacked the vunerable Troicki and won the next 4 games brilliantly to take command. In the 11th game Simon lost his serve once again with a lack of focus but not to be put down down he immediately broke back when Troicki was serving for the match and went on to win the tie-break and take his first tournament victory of the year. Troicki has a history of not being able to close out sets and matches. Gilles Simon could face Roger Federer in the 2nd round of the Aussie Open and will be a good test for the defending champion.
