This should be an explosive final. lets hope both girls play well and the nerves don't get to the Chinese player too much. Kim Clijsters is far more experienced at this level and will be less effected by the ocassion, though she is the favourite to win and therefore have a certain amount of pressure on her shoulders. Both ladies have been in good form throughout the tournament. Li Na lost her first set against world number one Wozniacki on the semi final but also showed she is ready to fight for the title and she will want to do her country proud in the biggest match of her career by far. Clijsters is a powerful hitter of the ball and will look to dominate the rallies, taking risks and going for the winners. She will win plenty of points that way, yet still she can be a little erratic in her shot making and the consistency of Li Na could force the Belgian to overhit on ocassions. The Chinese player is capable of powerful hitting to and it is important to for her to get plenty of first serves in and get into a rhythm early in the match and not let Clijsters take control. If Li Na can keep the ball deep then she is more likely to beable to complete with the favourite. Any short balls will be punished by the forehand of Clijsters. Head to head Clijsters leads 4-2 but the pair's last match was only a few weeks ago in the final of Sydney, where the Chinese star upset the odds to defeat Kim 7-6 6-3. Clijsters was 4-1 up in the first set but Li Na pulled it back.
I am going to go with the value bet in this match, which is a Li Na victory, though Clijsters is quite capable of steam rolling her opponent too. It is a very difficult match to call so low stakes only!
Match predictions:
Li Na to win.
