This will be a cracking match up between 4 singles players who have found form in the doubles game over the last few years. Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta have been a dominant force during 2010 and come into the first Grand Slam of the year as the top seeds. They have yet to win a major together though despite winning some large tournaments such as Miami, Rome, Moscow and the Canadian Open last year. They have moved swiftly through to the final in Melbourne and look good t claim the title. It must help the players that they are good mates off the court as well as on it. Their opponents in the final are Victoria Azarenka and Maria Kirilenko, a Belarussian/Russian partnership. Both girls are quality players and can obviously play good doubles as well as singles. They may try and outhit their opponents today and attack the weak second serves of both Pennetta and Dulko. Head to head in 2010 it is 1-1. Azarenka/Kirilenko won in straight sets in the final of Cincinatti, whilst the Italian/Argentine duo won their last meeting in straight sets in Moscow. This match will be very tight and should be a cracking match. I am going to go with Azarenka and Kirilenko to win their first slam together at better odds.
Match Prediction:
Azarenka/Kirilenko to win
