Alisa Kleybanova took revenge on Shah Peer in Madrid this morning with a comfortable 6-3 6-2 victory. The Isreali had defeated the Russian in the same tournament last year but Kleybanova was too consistent this time. Peer struggled with her second serve and lost the last 5 games of the match to go out in the first round. Kleybanova will be a tricky opponent for most of the top seeds.
Roberta Vinci and Iveta Benesova also had easily first round wins.
