WTA Madrid: Maria Sharapova moves into round 3 in Spain

Maria Sharapova made a strong comeback from losing the second set to defeat Elena Makarova 6-3 3-6 6-1. The battle of the Russians started well for Sharapova, before Makarova started to make her 1st serve count in the second. In the final set Sharapova showed her class to move swiftly through. She will have to play much better though if she is to progress further into the highly prestigious tournament.
