Novak djokovic has had his problems this year, but seems to be getting better and better in New York. He destroyed James Blake earlier in the tournament and was in even more dominant form in the last round against the dangrous Mardy Fish. Novak had a scare against compatriot Viktor Troiki early in the tournament but it seems to have made him more determined. Gael Monfils is also improving and his straight sets win against Gasquet in the fourth round showed he will be no pushover. The Frenchman needs to keep his concentration throughout the match and work on moving Novak around the court. He needs a high percentage of first serves against the Serbian. This is an interesting match-up and although Djokovic is the hot favourite for the match, Monfils could pose a threat.
