K PERVAK v Y-J-CHAN - GUANGZHOU 1ST ROUND

Pervak is an up and coming Russian and is moving swiftly up the ranks. She has just broken into the worlds top 100 players, having been a top junior for the last couple of years, winning the Australian Open in 2009. In 2010 she has good wins against the likes of Karoline Sprem, Dominika Cibulkova and Anna Chakvetadze. Chan is a big under achiever in the game so far in her career. Chan is a former world junior 2 but has lacked a consistency on the WTA tour over he last few years. She has had great success on the doubles court, having been ranked in the top 10 a few years ago. She is currently number 77 in the singles world ranknigs and will look to move inside the top 50 by year end, having last week made it through to the 3rd round of the US Open. Chan though seems to play very well in her home continent of Asia. She seems to like the conditions and always gets great support from the crowd. If she can get a good first serve percentage and keep her ground strokes solid then i think she has a great chance to move into the second round. This could be a close match!

PREDICTION:

Chan to beat Pervak
