Forget about the tiredness factor, Novak Djokovic will be up for this match big time! He may have had to play a long five set match against Federer to get through to his second US Open final, but the prestige which comes from knocking out the Swiss superstar in the semis of a Grand Slam will give the Serbian a renewed confidence which will put any fatigue to the back of his mind, especially having saved 2 match points. Novaks grit and determination showed in those final games, even having to come back from 0-30 and 30-40 when serving for the match at 6-5 in the 5th. Djokovic was helped by an uncharacteristic amount of unforced errors from Federer but in turn the errors coming from Djokovic throughout the match where minimal. Nadal was simply in a different class against Youzhny. He was never in trouble and the only wobble came was when he was broken in the 3rd set to allow Youzhny to level at 4-4. But the very next game the world number one broke again and wrapped up a routine 3 sets to love win. These two have played 21 times before and kno each others games very well. Novak though has won both there last two meetings back in 2009. They where both straight sets wins and on hard courts which obviously gives him extra hope in the final. Djokovic has won all his 7 matches against Nadal on hardcourts whilst the Spaniard has only won 3 of 14 wins against Novak on hardcourts, the majority where of course on clay. Remember only Federer has beaten Djokovic at the US Open since 2006 and now he is out the way, I fancy Novak to finally grab himself another Grand Slam title and beat Nadal in 5 sets.
PREDICTION:
Djokovic to win in 5 sets.
Are tennis matches fixed? I cannot believe that you are getting your predictions so correct, just one word unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteAnother thing is that I too think that final will be Djokovich's but in 4 sets.
