Match Preview.
This is going to be one hell of a match-up. We have the incredible serving of John Isner from the USA against the powerful returning of Argentina's David Nalbandian. Isner has had a remarkable rise up the ATP rankings in the last few years and now is ranked a brilliant number 20. He has a lot of pressure on him as one of the USA's best talents in a somewhat weak period for the sport in the nation. How far isner can go in the game is down his huge serve which often wins him an array of cheap points. He struggled in his first match in Auckland having to come from behind to defeat dangerous Dutch player Robin Haase, but he is used to marathon matches, just look at Wimbledon last year and his match-up with Nicholas Mahut! isner served an impressive 22 aces against Haase but shows his weakness as well only managing to win only 19 of 42 2nd service points, a statistic that Nalbandian will want to continue today. The Argentine breezed through his opening two matches without facing too many problems against Fognini and Petzschner and although these two opponents are hardly world class, Nalbandian does look impressive. David has a 1-0 lead in head to heads with Isner, but this can be discounted as isner retired injured after just 9 games. i think Nalbandian may just have the edge over his opponent today, however if isner can keep his 1st serve percentage above 75-80% then he could get the win.
Match Prediction.
Nalbandian to win
