Gulbis comeback to set up Stakhovsky clash
Ernst Gulbis had some great wins against the top players last year, but he was a different player in the first set of his match against Igor Andreev in Sydney. The Latvian lost his serve twice and lost 8 of 9 second service points before finally finding his feet against his Russian opponent. Gulbis ability is huge, but he lets himself down sometimes with slightly error flooded matches. Next up is Sergei Stakhovsky who had a very impressive win over Spaniard Garcia-Lopez. The Ukranian powered to a straight sets victory, serving 8 aces, losing only 8 points on his serve in the whole match and not facing a break point against Garcia-Lopez. If he plays the same against Gulbis then he could well be in with a great chance of progressing further. The match will be very close.
