Andy Murray reached his 3rd grand Slam final win a tight four set win against Spains David Ferrer. The number 5 seed looked comfortable leading 4-3 with a break in the first set but some erratic play saw Ferrer win 3 games in a row to take the set. Murray instantly broke to go 1-0 up in the second set only for the Spaniard to battle back again to level. At 5-4 up in the second set David had a set point on the Murray serve, but the Scot kept his composure and when he broke to lead 6-5, surely it would be 1 set all. Back came Ferrer to break Murray again - Tie Break Time. Andy took a mini break straight away in the breaker and then his serve help up well so take a 6-0 lead in the breaker and eventually winning it 7-2.
The third set was all Murray. The Brit dominated and Ferrer could not find the winners. Murray coasted through it 6-1. He immediately broke Ferrer again at the start of the fourth and had points for a 3-0 and double break. The Spaniard however did not reach the semi-finals to be blown away and back he came to win 3 in a row and lead 3-2. The match went on serve for the rest of set bringing a second tie-break. Murray again dominated and took the match 4-6 7-6 6-1 7-6.
Next up is number 3 seed Novak Djokovic. Murray will have to play better and more consistently than he did today if he is going to win that one! Stay tuned for my full match preview of the Mens final.
