Kim Clijsters came from behind to defeat Li Na and ruin the chances of China having their first Grand Slam tennis champion. Li Na started nervously losing her serve easily and going 2-0 down. But the Chinese star came straight back and broke and took the game to the Belgian. Clijsters playing well in patches was still making many mistakes and Li Na held her nerve to serve the set out.
Clijsters again took an early break in the second set before being pegged back again. Li Na defended many break points and managed to take a 3-2 lead. Soon afterwards Li Na's game broke down and Kim was showing more power and making less mistakes. Incredibly the Belgian won 6 games in a row to lead 2-0 in the third set. Back came Li with a break but then serving 40-30 up to go 2-2 the Chinese player made some bad unforced errors to lose her serve and from then on the Belgian was on top. She served out the match in great style with powerful first serves and won her 4th Grand Slam title, and her first outside of the US Open.
Well done Kim, great match and a great tournament for womens tennis.
