News: Andy Murray wins doubles match to give himself a confidence boost!

Andy Murray and older brother Jamie Murray won their first round doubles match against French pairing Julian Benneteau and J-W Tsonga.

They only lost 8 points on serve in the whole match and faced just one break point which they managed to save. This a confidence boosting win for Andy and having his older brother playing with him would have helped him I am sure.

Lets hope he can go further on in the tournament and doubles success may just get him back on the right track in the singles game.

I still cannot beleive there has been so much negativity about a British player who reached a Grand Slam Singles final. 10-15 years ago you would have been lucky if a Brit had made it into the main draw by his own right. For years Jeremy Bates was the only player capable. Then we had the ever consistent Tim Henman flying the flag but failing to reach a slam final. Even adopted Brit Greg Rusedski managed a US Open final spot.

We should be congratulating Murray for a terrific tournament display. Yes he let himself down a little in the final, but he didn't let down his true fans.

Many people make me laugh when they say they are tennis fans. I bet 90% of the BBC audience hadn't seen Murray play since Wimbledon in 2010. Call themselves tennis fans, don't make me laugh

They fail to even recognise his Masters Series victories, his multiple wins over Roger Federer. Its time tennis fans started following Murrays successes throughout the year and his stunning career so far. He is only 23 and playing in an era of truly great champions. We should be celebrating the fact that we have a world class player from Great Britain and get behind the Scot all the way. Who knows how long we will have him for and how long it will be until the next world class star comes from this country. Get supporting the lad and talk about all his successes , not just a few failings.

I watch Murray a lot and always feel he is capable of winning against any tennis player and thats why he is a great player to watch and support - tennis fans in this country just don't know how lucky you are. Many countries wouled love a player like Murray to watch week in week out!
