Great looking final in Estoril. Two great clay court players who will want to win here big time. Verdasco has had a lean year so far and has slipped to 15 in the world from his 2010 top 10 ranking. he has struggled to be as dominant as he has been on the tour, but this final place will give him a lot of extra confidence. The Spaniard had an easy semi final when Milos Raonic retired after losing the first set. I still do not think Verdasco has what it takes to defeat his Argentine rival. He still needs to work on many aspects of his game.
Del Potro is happily moving swiftly back up the rankings in 2011. He is a quality player and I would expect him to be challenging for a top 15 place by the end of the year, if not higher. He will break the top 40 whatever happens here. He has had strong wins against Robin Soderling in the quarter finals and Pablo Cuevas in the semis, a match where he didn't face a break point. The 22 year old I believe is more hungry for success at this stage of his career and is going to be playing out of his skin for this victory. Although i feel hardcourts may still be his best surface, you can never discount an Argentian on clay.
Match Prediction:
Juan Martin Del Potro
