I have an unhealthy appetite for following tennis around the world. From Grand Slams to ATP & WTA level events right down to the ITF circuit. No tournament is too small. Enjoy my predictions

WTA Madrid: Li Na wins opening match
China's Australian Open finalist Li Na had a good confidence boosting win in the first round of the Madrid Open over local favourite Maria Jose Martinez-Sanchez. The Chinese star had a slow start, losing her serve in the very first game, but soon fought back and coped well with the serve and volleying of her Spanish opponent. Li Na wobbled in the second set having looked in control 6-4 4-2 up and had to go all the way to a tie-break to win the match. She has struggled with her form and media attention since her Melbourne success, but can hopefully get herself into form for the French Open and Wimbledon, where she has the potential to do very well!
