Australian Open 3rd Round - Tomic v Dolgopolov Jr
B Tomic @ 1.66 to beat A Dolgopolov - interesting odds here. If it wasn't for the H2H statistic then the Aussie price would surely be shorter. Dolgopolov leads 3-0 all on hardcourts and 2 last year in Sydney and Shanghai. A similar pattern emerges in both those last two games. Tomic wins the first tight set then Dolgp races through the next two in each match. i think Tomic though is far more consistent so far in Melbourne. He has taken out Verdasco and Querrey, two decent hardcourt players and the crowd will get behind the powerful Aussie teenager. Dolgopolov did really well here last year though reaching the quarter finals taking out Soderling and Tsonga before losing to Murray in 4. This year he has gone to 5 sets in both matches against average opponents Jones and Kamke. he will need to be a lot more consistent in this match, control his shot making and get a high percentage of 1st serves. He cannot afford to be unfocused in any sets, as Tomic will only grow in confidence with the crowd behind him. The match is going to be full of solid ground stokes, attacking shots and a little creativity, especially from Dolgo. It could go close, but I feel Tomic has the edge and will take the match in either 4 r 5 sets.
