Men's Wimbledon Quarter Finals: Roger Federer v Gilles Simon

Gilles Simon has been playing some solid tennis at this years Wimbledon. Breezing through the early rounds he won an epic 5 setter on Centre Court on Saturday against the flamboyant Gael Monfils before thrashing Tomas Bedych on manic Monday in straight sets. He is a classic counter puncher and his ability to hit angles and increase pace when needed is one of the best on the ATP circuit. Roger Federer though is in great form himself. He is serving well, striking the ball smoothly and no player has more experience of these Wimbledon courts than the Swiss Master. H2H it is 5-2 to Federer winning the last 5. Simon's wins came way back on hardcourts in 2008. However they have 2 x 5 set matches in Grand Slams already in their careers 2011 Australian Open and 2013 French Open so Gilles is more than capable of winning sets against Federer. Their last match up was in Shanghai last year and it was close again Roger winning 7-6 7-6. I think Simon is playing well and should put up a good display. If Gilles wins then the Frenchman will also knock Rafa Nadal out of the ATP top 10 in the new rankings.
