J Donaldson 8/15 to defeat R Ram - The young American is motivated and 2017 needs to a big progression year for Jared. Rajeev although a solid singles player may be more focused on his doubles and youth should prevail in Brisbane
P Gunneswaran 11/8 to defeat H Moriya - The Japanese player is very up and down, very rarely solid. I expect Gunneswaran to be suited by conditions and home advantage and cause an upset in Chennai
Yang 5/6 to defeat J Gushko in WTA Auckland - You can never dismiss the Chinese players and Yang should be able to take this match. Glushko is capable but has dropped down the rankings after a very poor 2016 and not sure she will recover
A Sasnovich 4/9 to defeat A Muhammad - the Belarus player is too good to be playing in qualifying but is struggling to move into the upper levels of the WTA rankings as consistency is not there. Aliaksandra still should have enough to cope with Asia in Brisbane qualifying
A Komardina 4/1 to defeat E Alexandrova - Battle of the Russians in Shenzhen qualies. Anastasija looks a big price having had plenty of wins in 2016 at ITF level and moved into the WTA top 200. Ekaterina will be tough but stranger things have happened and the conditions may also play a part
