Thursday Tennis Predictions - Chennai, Doha, Brisbane, Shenzhen, Auckland, Hopman Cup & Chennai

G Dimitrov 4/6 to defeat D Thiem  - Tough match to call. Thiem is the higher ranked after a very solid 2016 in a big breakthrough year. However Grigor is showing signs he is also getting back some consistency and to a high level of tennis that he produced a couple of seasons back. I think the Bulgarian will just sneak this match in Brisbane

R Nadal 4/9 to defeat M Raonic - The Spaniard defeated Milos last week in an exhibition event and looks in fantastic form in Brisbane, gaining confidence after his lay off late in 2016. The Spaniard is showing glimpses he is back to some of his tennis and wants to regain his ATP top 4 position if not higher. Raonic has also been working on things in the off season and is also motivated to push on further in 2017 so if Nadal is off form and Milos gets his serves going then the Candian is capable

J Konta 4/9 to defeat K Siniakova - This will not be easy for the Brit. Katarina is showing signs of a WTA top 20 player and will probably be a top 10 player sooner rather than later with experience. She is confident after some excellent wins in WTA Shenzhen and will be ready to cause another upset. Konta has also had some tricky tight matches and this fight has given her plenty of match practice. 1st serve % for both will be vital

R Federer 2/5 to defeat R Gasquet - Hopman Cup and a vital tie for both players. Roger had a dramatic tough loss to Zverev a few days ago and although it was a loss the match practice was vital to his comeback from being out for 6 months. I think this match will mean more to him than it will Gasquet and Roger will want to take the pressure off Belinda Bencic later

A Konjuh 11/10 to defeat J Goerges - Big opportunity for two strong powerful players to reach a WTA final early in 2017. Ana will be the fresher as her opponent in the last round retired after 3 games. The Croatian teen will be top 10 player at the very least in her career and consistency is picking up now she has more experience and confidence. Goerges had a huge comeback against Wozniacki and will feel unbeatable after coming from 1-6 0-3 down. The match can go either way but I am excited to see if Ana can continue her rise to fame

A Ramos 2/4 to defeat D Sela - The Israeli thrashed a very disappointing Chung in the last round but really hasn't been tested yet in 2017. Ramos is very dangerous on most surfaces and is peaking in his career while Sela is up and down in form. I see Albert trying to get an ATP top 20 ranking in 2017 and motivation is higher.

K Pliskova 4/7 to defeat E Svitolina - Elina took out Kerber in the last round and although this will boost her confidence it may well also hamper the Ukrainian as the spotlight is on her. Karolina Pliskova had a huge breakthrough year in 2016 and I think could challenge for WTA number 1 this year. She may have too much consistency in this match up. H2H in all tournaments it is 4-2 to Karolina but interestingly in Australia it is 2-0 to Svitolina
