Safarova v Mattek-Sands, WTA Quebec semi finals

Lucie Safarova is the favourite with the bookmakers here. Last years finalist beat Melanie Oudin in the quarter finals in three sets and struggled with her 2nd serve as usual, serving 7 double faults. Oudin hasn't been in great form though and Safarova took advantage of this. Mattek-Sands ruined home hopes in Canada by beating Rebecca Marino in two tight sets. Marino served well but the power of Mattek was the difference. The American wants to end the year on a high and be rewarded for all the effort she has put in after coming back from injury. At the start of the year she was ranked outside of the top 150 but now lies 71st and this should improve closer to the top 50 mark, even of she loses. These two players met in the quarter finals last year with Safarova coming out a 6-3 6-4 winner. Safarova has a 2-0 head to head record against the American, however I think Mattek is in good form and could cause an upset here tonight.

PREDICTION:

A tight win for Mattek Sands. Price of 2.50 @ bet365.com
