Shuai Peng made hardwork of her match against Ayumi Morita, but still managed to join compatriot Li Na in the last 16. Peng took the opening set 6-1 and looked to be cruising, but as she so often does stumbles when she is leading comfortably. She lost her serve in the 8th game of the second set and Morita served it out comfortably. At 3-3 in the third the Japanese youngster had her chances to break but Peng hung on and went on to break Morita in the next game before serving out the match.
