Both of these players have had a disappointing start to 2011. Gulbis lost early in the Australian Open but did show glimpses of what he can do with a semi final spot in Sydney and a quarter final against Nadal in Doha. He is on the cusp of a top 20 ranking and the Latvian star will be looking for his first serve to work well in Rotterdam. Thiemo De Bakker choked in the Australian Open. He was 2 sets and 4-2 up against Gael Monfils before his game collapsed trying to finish his opponent off. Lets hope Thiemo has got over this mental torture and can impress his home crowd in the Netherlands. Both players are 22 years old and have big serves, which should dominate the match. The player with a higher first serve percentage will probably win this one. De Bakker with the home crowd could be very dangerous, but I think Gulbis may just pinch this one, but bet low stakes only.
