News: Petra Kvitova outlasts Yanina Wickmeyer in Paris

I do not know how Yanina Wickmeyer lost this match!!! What an epic.

Wickmeyer won all 12 of her first service points and broke Kvitova to lead 4-2 first set. Kvitova then won 8 points in a row to level, before Wickmeyer held on to her serve to lead 5-4. She then managed to break the Kvitova serve to take the first set 7-5.

Wickmeyer then had break point chance to go 4-2 up in the second set, but her 2nd serve was starting to falter badly. She missed the chance and the Czech girl took the next 4 games to take the 2nd set 6-3 and looked in control as Wickmeyer couldn't serve a second serve properly and Kvitova was all over it. Yet Wickmeyer broke in the first set of the 3rd set, only to be broken stright back having lost all her 3 2nd serves in the game. The Belgin though is a fighter and again took control with a break of serve and managed to get the match to 5-4 and serving. Wickmeyer went 30-0 up in the game and looked comfortably before she threw the match away losing her serve nd then there only looked like one winner. Kvitova served love gme and although Wickmeyer held on to force the match into a tie-break... Kvitova took the tie-break 7-3 as the Belgian ws mentally exhausted.

Wickmeyer should have won the match easily but in the end Kvitova's fight and the poor play from Wickmeyer on huge points caused her downfall
