Australian Open 1st round - Jelena Jankovic v Laura Robson

L Robson @ 5.50 to beat J Jankovic - Expect this price to drop before Monday. The British youngster is playing really well. her powerful groundstrokes and shot making have had her opponents in qualifying running around the court, often looking hopeless, if she can dominate the points then she will have a chance against Jankovic, who can easily get frustrated, especially if the crowd get behind the young Brit, believe me they will! Jankovic of course has plenty of experience and has an abundance of power to counter attack any shot making for Laura. However if things get tight Jelena's serve can drop to pieces and Robson will strike anything that bounces her way. Laura loves being the underdog and loves a challenge. She has already shown in qualifying that she is a great player, has 60 WTA points in her pocket and still has nothing to lose as a 17 year old. These two played at Wimbledon 2010 Jankovic winning 6-3 7-6. Robson in that match competed well and could have snuck that 2nd set on the TB. Her match with Sharapova at last years Wimbledon shows how much she has improved and she will be hugely motivated by the fact that a win over Jankovic will almost certainly gurantee her a WTA top 100 ranking. Jankovic could well run away with the match if she gets a good start, The Serbian will surely try to take advantage of the movement of Robson, especially drawing Laura into the net with drop shots etc. This should be a great match of raw talent from Laura Robson versus the tactical experience of Jelena Jankovic. No value in a Serbian win so lets enjoy the match and stick a £10 on Robson to give a good show of herself in Melbourne
